Jenny helps thousands of people #getdecluttered with her new book
Jenny had a manuscript accepted by a major university press and she began editing her draft. After weeks of “solo editing,” she felt confused, like she could no longer tell what was good and what needed work.
During a StoryBloom intensive, complete with monthly guidance calls and a full developmental edit, Jenny confidently sent her polished manuscript back to the press.
Her new book, Decluttered, is now available.
“Allie saved my book. Her support, insightfulness and talent were everything I needed beside me while working on the edits for my first book.” –Jenny Albertini

Emily’s first collection of poetry debuts soon
When Emily learned that her poetry manuscript had been accepted by Elyssar Press, she was elated; she also knew that to feel confident her collection was ready, she needed an editor.
Allie and Emily developed a custom editorial plan that spanned six months, so she could complete the book before beginning her next journey into an MFA program.
Emily’s book, On Distance, is now on schedule for publication in 2025.

FAQs
How does the editing process work?
First, for big-picture editing packages, I read your submission for clarity and understanding. Then I read it again and begin to pinpoint where your story needs revision around pacing, plot, stakes, and characterization.
For most packages, I schedule introduction and follow-up calls to discuss the editing letter and address any emerging questions. I want each person I work with to understand what to prioritize next.
What’s the difference between copyediting and developmental editing? Author coaching?
This is more for me to consider after I learn about your goals. Usually, folks need comprehensive editing from me, meaning a combination of developmental editing and copy editing. I do not copy edit manuscripts if they need significant developmental edits and restructuring first.
Developmental editing often includes an editorial summary of how effectively your story uses craft elements like plot, pacing, conflict, characterization, and stakes. Copyediting focuses on the mechanics of language and considers elements like flow, syntax, tone, and grammar. For my style of editing, rest assured that I will do line editing alongside copy edits. It’s just how my brain works when I’m editing, and 99% of the time it’s what people prefer too, unless they specify only wanting one type of editing.
My author coaching combines deep listening, developmental editing , biweekly or monthly check-ins with ample “live” editing time together, and various motivational techniques for external accountability.
What is your typical turnaround time?
I create custom editing timelines that require a minimum of a six-week commitment from folks. This allows for a realistic editing pace and an altogether energizing experience, with ample time for guidance sessions and revision.
I no longer offer rush edits on drafts.
How much does the "StoryBloom” package cost?
This is a plush package where your creativity and stories become my #1 priority to nurture and grow. It also includes at least four, 75-minute guidance calls, in addition to all the editing love and attention you get.
This package begins at $1,950 per month.
I only have two spots for this package each month. Writers LOVE the intense focus and specialty care they receive.
To establish the exact cost, I consider factors such as:
Number of 1:1 guidance calls.
Total word count for your monthly submissions.
Estimated number of project hours this will take me and my team to complete.
Add-on services such as personalized craft lessons and private consultations with our specialty genre experts.
How do I request a quote ?
The best way is to contact me. Once I learn about your specific project, I can give you a better estimate and hop on a call with you.
